We might not know it yet, but we can feel it – Mother Nature is dying and urging us to call to action.

Do you ever feel excited and anxious when you read the news and headlines about a recent research discovery? However, in reality, we are heading into an uncertain future.

Records of global warming, wildfires in Australia, oceans filled with plastic, the record-breaking hurricane season in the Atlantic, and a global pandemic that is also linked to our ecosystem’s health contribute to the collapse of our mother nature.

With that, mother nature is sending everyone a message or, perhaps, a warning. What we can’t see with our eyes could cause mayhem across the globe.

It could be hard to say that this could be the price we pay for our bad habits. But one thing’s for sure, Mother Nature needs healing. She needs help.

So, what are the scary realities of Mother Nature, and what actions shall we take as stewards of nature?

ABIS Media has compiled a list of those that destroy Mother Nature that will raise awareness among everybody. So, without further ado, just keep watching!

Think about the geysers, rainbows, and the ocean; you will see how gorgeous mother nature would be. But can you tell that mother nature also has the chance to wreak havoc?

What are the Facts that Mother Nature is Dying Slowly?

Every year, over 190 countries observe World Earth Day. As global warming and climate change are recognized and considered threats to the destruction of Mother Nature, here are instances that reveal how our world is dying slowly.

1. Human Population and Why Mother Nature is Dying

In human biology, Population is, in fact, the whole number of inhabitants that occupy an area like the country or the world. Like any biological population, the size of the Population is very limited by the food supply, the effects of a disease, and some environmental factors.

Population growth would impact the Earth’s system in many ways. The increase in the extraction of resources affects the environment, such as the consumption of oils, gas, fuels, water, trees, minerals, the ocean and wildlife that humans need in everyday life.

2. Ecological Footprint

This is the measure of demands on natural resources made by the person or group. It became one of the widely used measures of humanity’s effect on the environment, and it has become a highlight of the unsustainability of the practices. It also includes the inequalities of consumption between or even within countries.

Because using more resources that nature can produce creates more and more waste and even greenhouse gases than nature could ever compensate for. And because of that, we are slowly destroying the balance of nature, and natural catastrophes, climate change, and global warming are the consequences.

3. Tragedy of Commons

It’s about the between individuals and collective rationality. It’s, in fact, the economic and environmental science issues where people have access to the shared resource and later act in their interests at the expense of other people.

Ranchers used this analogy in grazing the animals on the common field. This would result in underinvestment, overconsumption, and depletion of resources.

4. Mass Production

This is actually about applying principles of division of labour, specialization, and standardization of parts to manufacturing goods. The process gets high rates of any output, as a low unit cost, with lower costs expected when there is an increase in volume.

Because of machinery and human labor for production, factories have now become the major contributors to air pollution. If you’re unaware, toxic materials and gas like methane and carbon dioxide are pumped and burned into the atmosphere. The amount of toxic gas that factories release in the air increase environmental and health damage.

5. Industrial Revolution

Before the industrial revolution, most people had to look after the environment because it’s where they got their products from. In modern history, the process of the change from agrarian and handicraft economy to dominant by machine and industrial manufacturing.

The process actually started in Britain in the 18th century. From there, it spread to other parts of the world already. But here’s the caveat: industrial processes may negatively impact the environment.

It causes the loss of natural resources, climate change, water and air pollution, and species extinction. It’s just sad to think that these factors have threatened the global environment, most importantly, the social and economic welfare.

6. Rise of Machines

The Industrial Revolution was when handicraft and agrarian economies changed to machine and industrial manufacturing. With that, the rise of technologies has already damaged the world in ways like pollution and depletion of natural resources.

It’s a major issue these days as this world has become so addicted to technologies like gadgets these days. Most machines or technologies burn fuel for energy. This contributes to increasing threats to global warming.

7. Common-Pool Resources

These are resources made available to everyone by consumption and to which access can be limited at such a high cost. These resources are susceptible to overuse and may be prone to becoming tragedies of the common.

And because the main resources are vulnerable, the common-pool resources now become subject to congestion, pollution, overuse, and possible destruction unless use limits or harvesting limits are enforced and devised.

To Wrap it Up

We all experience a sense of deep admiration and love whenever we see the Earth’s elegance, harmony, and beauty. Every advancement in our scientific understanding expands our love and admiration for such a wondrous planet. But it’s sad to think about what is happening now. That the once Earth or Mother Nature we know crying out for help?

With the list of factors that destroy Mother Nature, have you realized that humans are causing life on Earth to vanish? This is perhaps the scariest reality of Mother Nature. But it’s never too late to make things right. It’s not late to restore what we have lost. Only then will we know that our actions will help the Earth shine back to its glory.
